The Senior Accountant fulfills a very integral role of the Company, with responsibilities for the monthly financial Close Process, US GAAP compliance, internal-controls monitoring and compliance and systems management. The position requires a technically-experienced financial professional. The successful candidate will have solid accounting experience, strong leadership skills, prior supervision experience, substantial computer skills, great communication abilities, high ethical integrity and a commitment to teamwork and service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage General Ledger Accounting, including the monthly Close process and related account reconciliations.
- Direct the Company’s accounting software processes, working with IT to manage the use of our Oracle financial systems. Lead current and upcoming system conversions, including conversions related to the financial reporting system.
- Monitor SEC, FASB and related entities for changes impacting accounting and financial reporting. Develop related technical research memorandums and assess the impact on the Company’s financial results and reporting.
- Analyze financial results and provide variance memos/schedules. Develop standard and ad-hoc reports/analyses.
- Assist with the preparation of Company’s internal and external financial reporting.
- Develop and refine the Company’s accounting policies and procedures, with emphasis on best-practices. Actively identify areas for improvements.
- Maintain strong internal controls and SOX compliance. Ensure all work is appropriately documented and supported.
- Work closely with other Finance areas and throughout the Company to ensure appropriate accounting.
- Coordinate activities of internal and external auditors.
- Train, cross-train and develop accounting staff. Serve as a leader and role model for the department.

Expatriate Tax Manager – dcd@fittsroberts.com – Houston
BASIC FUNCTION: Assist with the development and implementation of expatriate taxation policy worldwide. Liaise with field offices to review, participate and advise on employee tax policies, processes and issues as related to the Expatriate population. Manage field employee tax policy questions on a case by case basis. Recommend changes to ensure the organization’s employee taxation policies as applied in the Divisions are in alignment with the global mobility strategy. Raise questions of risk with Corporate tax and immigration (work visa) requirements. Review vendor contracts and invoices.
DUTIES:
Support Global Mobility in maintaining strong relationships with key mobility stakeholders.
Assist with the development and implementation of an expatriate tax strategy worldwide
Review operational compliance as related to employee taxation and immigration
Collaborate with Divisions and other functional departments globally to ensure consistent processes and approach to expatriate tax methodology
Liaise with expatriate payroll tax and accounting to assist with and resolve data delivery questions
Responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining a set of metrics for this function
Manage day to day vendor interactions as necessary, review vendor contract and provide budget information for fees. Ensure service delivery in accordance with agreed upon SLAs.
Manage escalated questions and issues raised by assignees, HR or hiring managers related to expatriate taxation
QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION: BS/BA/BBA or equivalent University degree in accounting, business or finance. Certified Public Accountant status or equivalency preferred
EXPERIENCE: 7+ years experience in expatriate taxation and/or relevant experience in international assignment administration with a multinational organization with exposure to diverse taxing regimes. Industry knowledge preferred.
SKILLS:

Must be able to independently prepare complex Excel spreadsheets, analyze source documents for book/tax differences, compute tax depletion and depreciation, maintain tax calendars, and maintain schedules of tangible property. Senior International Tax Accountant – Houston, Texas
Overview:
Tax Accounting is responsible for income tax provisions and accounts. The analyst will support U.S and foreign effective tax rate calculations and analyze differences between forecast and actual provisions. The analyst will also participate in the Tax Department’s maintenance of tax basis balance sheets.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the preparation of segment-level and overall corporate effective tax rate calculations. Provide support analysis for period-to-period tax rate variations.
- Calculate and record monthly foreign and U.S. income tax provisions for assigned entities. Ensure accurate return to accrual adjustments for differences between booked provisions and filed tax returns.
- Support the preparation of U.S. tax basis balance sheets. Interface with tax compliance and accounting personnel to ensure accurate measurements of book and tax bases. Perform tax basis balance sheet training and review functions. Consolidate entity level deferred tax calculations.
- Prepare and review foreign tax basis balance sheets. Analyze the U.S. tax impacts of foreign deferred taxes.
- Participate in the implementation of a tax provision software package (CorpTax AGP). 6. Ensure income tax provisions and accounts are compliant with FAS 109 and Sarbanes-Oxley. Provide supporting documentation and interact with internal and public auditors.

Overview:
Position involves the analysis of tax issues associated with corporate acquisitions, dispositions, and other initiatives. Individual will be trained in various areas of tax such as the foreign tax credit, US taxation of international activities, partnership taxation, transaction taxes, etc.

Job Description: ¡ Duties of the Manager of Tax Planning and Strategic Projects: ¡ Tax research, analysis and planning to minimize tax liabilities and to identify tax saving opportunities. ¡ Manage tax planning projects to achieve targeted goals. ¡ Evaluate impact of proposed transactions, including the management of modeling. ¡ Evaluate potential impact of tax law changes. Manage and prepare responses to complex inquiries from taxing authorities.
Required: ¡ MUST 7+ years tax experience within banking and /or financial services. ¡ Bachelors Degree in Accounting or Finance. ¡ MS/MBA Taxation required or working towards ¡ CPA required ¡ Expert knowledge of federal and state tax laws. ¡ Knowledge of Tax Research databases such as CCH and RIA. Strong reconciliation, analytical and problem solving skills.
