Our client, a growing Oil & Gas company, is looking for a JIB Supervisor. They are looking for someone who is motivated, driven and excited about taking the JIB team to the next level. The position requires a Bachelors Degree and involvement in COPAS is a huge plus!!!!!

Responsibilities:

Supervise numerous positions within the Joint Interest Accounting department;
Be responsible for final review and approval on documents, projects and processes that generate within the department.
This position will execute the posting of vouchers and general ledger processes to ultimately achieve the completion of the JIB monthly close.
Duties include training and guidance for all departmental employees. This person will perform review and analysis of departmental processes and projects.

Requirements:

Position requires Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business.
CPA or active COPAS involvement is a plus.
5-12 years of diverse oil and gas accounting experience with a minimum of 3 years supervisory experience required.
Candidate must have a working knowledge of Joint Operating Agreements and the COPAS accounting procedures, guidelines, and interpretations. This person must have a well rounded knowledge of material transfers, AFE’s, capital and expense items, and joint interest processing.

Description

Sarbanes-Oxley Section 404 responsibilities:

Conduct annual and ongoing significant account reviews and ensure testing is properly documented within SOX work papers
Document Division specific key SOX controls and their related attributes/test descriptions, utilizing the standard SOX RCM
Review/distribute/implement SOX guidance as it is issued, participate in global guidance update calls, and modify Division SOX program appropriately
Provide testing status updates to SOX Core Team on a real-time basis
Prepare write-ups of any new deficiency identified via management testing, and submit them (along with updates to existing items) to SOX Manager on a real-time basis
Identify Division SOX training needs and participate/facilitate training
Respond to KPMG meeting and documentation requests – liaise with KPMG contact directly to arrange SOX planning sessions, walkthroughs, and facilitate the integrated audit approach
Establishes and communicates testing timeline with the divisions
Manages and executes all aspects of test preparation, execution, and coordination with process owners
Facilitates detailed review, executed by Controllers, of test results and test summary for completeness and accuracy
Communicates testing support needs and data requests
Manages status reporting and facilitates meetings to clarify test results, as needed
Ensures testing project binders and all documentation is maintained
Obtains first draft of remediation plans from Controllers (or process owners) and updates TOE results with plan, owner, and target remediation date
Assists the divisions in documenting desk level procedures and system operating manuals
Participates in the division forecasting, planning, and analysis process, as appropriate
Perform field visits
Follow through on management responses to internal and external auditor recommendations

Project Responsibilities:

Actively participates in company top 8 initiatives (eg. Data Integrity, Dashboards, End-to-End Process Improvement, M&A) as advisor on processes and controls
Facilitates documentation of design of processes or acts as reviewer as appropriate
Ensures action plans are established and tracked in key hotspot areas of concern
Ability to effectively manage multiple projects concurrently
Identify opportunities for more efficient and effective business processes and controls;

Build internal systems knowledge and manage other on-going division related projects;

Participates in the division forecasting, planning, and analysis process, as appropriate;

Some travel (20-25%) as needed

Education/Training:

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting required.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.) Visio a plus

Job Knowledge/Experience:

A self starter that demonstrates strong leadership and success as a project manager with previous SOX compliance experience

Excellent communication skills

Minimum of 5 years accounting/audit experience, 3 years of public accounting experience is a plus.

Strong analytical and root cause analysis capabilities; challenges the status quo

Strong process re-engineering, flowcharting, and data analysis background

Responsible for the direction and management of the organization’s treasury activities. This position will be responsible for cash operations; short-term investments, and will have responsibility for developing and implementing various treasury processes and controls. The Treasury Manager will report to the Director of Finance.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

? Allocates cash balances, maintains investment records and prepares incoming and outgoing forecasts.
? Monitor cash position daily and work with A/P department to manage weekly payments to suppliers.
? Procurement, custody, and investment of funds and other assets.
? Manage weekly cash forecasting, investments, and flow of funds to maximize interest and minimize currency conversion costs.

I know everyone is anxious to hear what is going on with the Houston job market! The first quarter of the year really started off with a bang. Unfortunately, we noticed a dramatic slowdown the latter part of May and June. HOWEVER, it is starting to pick up significantly again. I am sure the BP incident made everyone a little nervous, but it seems like that is changing. There have been some great headlines in the news this week: JP Morgan, Citibank and Bank of America have all seen profits in the second quarter of 2010. The unemployment claims are also down. CFS nationally is seeing growing demand in permanent and temporary needs. All of these indicators are very positive. At this point I am cautiously optimistic (a little worried about the drilling moratorium). I can share with you that 2010 has been and will continue to be a much better year than 2009! We can only go up from here.

The Opportunity:

Company is seeking a professional, skilled individual for our Sr. Corporate Accountant position. Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to supporting the Accounting Manager in working through complex accounting issues, supporting the monthly close process, financial preparation and review, GAAP/SEC research and key reconciliations.

General Statement

Under the general direction of the Controller, the position is responsible for regulatory and managerial financial reporting and related activities.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Assist in the preparation, review and analysis of domestic and consolidated financial statements and managerial financial reports, including completion or management of underlying entries and computations needed to complete financial statements.
Assist in the design and creation of financial reports to help optimize Company operations.
Investigate, design, and implement accounting and internal control procedures to insure accurate financial and tax reporting.
Prepare third party compliance reports.
Assist in the implementation and ongoing financial management of various corporate initiatives including ERP and various system enhancements.
Participate in completion of the corporate year end independent audit.
Assist in Income tax planning and compliance issues.
- Participate in budgeting, financial planning and year-end financial activities.
- Assist with analysis and integration of domestic and foreign acquisitions.
Research and implement new accounting policies, both Corporate and GAAP driven.
- Work with commercial insurance renewal and annual administration.
Assist in management of company’s fleet of vehicles.
Completion of general periodic departmental requirements.
- Perform related duties as required.

Qualifications:

Educational/Knowledge:

CPA.
5+ years of progressive accounting responsibility.
Big 4 experience preferred.
Bilingual (English and Spanish)

Experience/Skills:

Oracle ERP system, including creating of financial statement reports in Oracle General Ledger and using Oracle ADI (Application Data Integrator)
Hyperion Planning and Budgeting experience.
Microsoft office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
