The HRIS Analyst will be responsible for building out and driving scaleable processes within the payroll system by implementing automation as well as educating key stakeholders on the full utilization of the system.

Overview of the HR Generalist role:

  • Recruit, interview job applicants; review application/resume
  • Evaluate applicant skills and make recommendations regarding applicant’s qualifications.
  • Provide employee relations support.
  • Recommend, develop, and schedule training and development courses.
  • Provide advice, assistance, and follow-up on company policies, procedures, and documentation.
  • Coordinate the resolution of specific policy-related and procedural problems and inquiries.
  • Conduct orientation sessions for new employees to explain personnel policies, compensation, and benefit programs.
  • Assist with administering employee benefit programs and coordinate daily benefits processing. Handle enrollments, COBRA, terminations, changes, beneficiaries, disability, claims, distributions, loans, hardships and compliance testing.
  • 10% Travel – in the next couple of months

Preferred Qualifications for the HR Generalist:

Responsibilities:

  • Oil and gas severance tax – prepare, file, and pay production taxes as assigned; reconcile any differences
  • Oil and gas state royalties – prepare, file, and pay state royalties as assigned; reconcile any differences
  • Upload all royalty and severance tax payments into Excalibur
  • Monitor regulation changes with State reporting of royalties
  • Monitor regulation changes with severance tax reporting
  • Work with Land Department on issues concerning State royalty percentages
  • Upload all applicable journal vouchers into Excalibur
  • Work with Production Department to resolve applicable volume discrepancies
  • Accruals – research outside operated sales on wells for a series of properties to provide an oil, gas, and NGL accrual on a monthly basis
  • Gas Balancing revenue and statement preparation

Qualifications:

  • 4-year undergraduate degree (Accounting/Finance) with 5-6 years of oil and gas revenue accounting or equivalent experience, or high school diploma or GED with 9-10 years of oil and gas revenue accounting or equivalent experience.
  • Strong working knowledge of Excalibur or similar oil and gas accounting software, preferably 5+ years of hands-on use.
  • Demonstrated hands-on knowledge of production severance tax reporting
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience with State royalty reporting
  • Experience in oil and gas revenue accounting practices with attention towards detail and accounting analysis.
  • Excellent working skills in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook skills, with PowerPoint skills being a plus.

Overview of the Tax Consultant role:

  • Perform detailed reviews of transaction data and supporting documentation to determine proper sales/use taxes due in order to quantify refund claims and/or reductions to audit assessments
  • Manipulate and analyze client data from various accounting and reporting systems
  • Research tax issues in multiple states and help develop tax planning strategies
  • Address complexities and tax technical issues that arise from client operations
  • Proactively monitor transaction tax legislative proposals and law changes to ensure clients are aware of potential opportunities/costs
  • Continuously develop tax expertise, analytical capabilities, and soft skills
  • Contribute significantly to the development of a dynamic and growing consulting practice

Preferred Qualifications for the Tax Consultant:

  • Undergraduate degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Information Technology, or Business with two or more years of experience in indirect tax, with consulting experience preferred. Experience in the energy industry is a plus, but not required

Senior Accountant Responsibilities:

Does This Sound Like You?

  • Accounting designation (CPA preferred) or an equivalent combination of related experience and education.
    • Background in public accounting is required, Big 4 public accounting a plus.

What You’ll Do:

  • Establish and maintain accounting principles, practices and procedures to ensure FASB, GAAP, and Sarbanes-Oxley compliance.
    • Prepare quarterly financial reports for the Board of Directors, Audit Committee, shareholders and investors including discussion and analysis of results.
    • Support annual external audit by drafting financial statements and footnotes, and responding to auditor inquiries.
    • Lead technical accounting research and drafting white papers including the communication and implementation of new accounting practices, policies, and procedures across the Company.
    • Establish, implement and administer internal control policies, procedures and compliance.
    • Manage all reporting and analysis regarding equity-based transactions, including preferred stock as well as equity compensation and stock comp administration.
    • Support and educate internal customers on accounting related items, including existing and new accounting guidance and policies
    • Ensure financial systems are appropriate for tasks performed and are developed, tested, and implemented appropriately
    • Identify areas to improve and automate reports and processes, resulting in greater accuracy and efficiency.
