Participates in the preparation of financial statements including tracking oil and gas property, calculating depletion, calculating the asset retirement obligation, and analyzing variances.  Prepares schedules and assists with information requests from external auditors. Assists in the maintenance and testing of company-wide internal controls. Prepares the monthly financial reporting binder which includes balance sheet reconciliations. Researches technical accounting issues and assists in determining how proposed/recently issued pronouncements will impact our business.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist with the preparation of financial statements and footnote support.

 

  • Prepare flux analysis and research explanations for variances between forecast/budget/prior periods vs. actual results.

 

  • Prepare schedules for external auditors and research answers to external auditor inquiries.

 

  • Document and maintain company-wide internal controls and accounting policies and procedures.

 

  • Prepare monthly financial reporting binder which includes balance sheet reconciliations.

 

  • Research technical accounting issues and assist in determining how proposed/recently issued pronouncements impact our business.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a Master’s degree in Accounting.

 

  • Two to five years of external audit and/or industry experience.

 

  • CPA license a plus.

 

  • Demonstrated written and oral communication skills.

 

  • Strong problem solving and analytical capabilities.
