Revenue & Production Accounting Director – Houston, Dlemaire@cfstaffing.com

Responsible for all aspects and supervision of the Revenue Accounting and Production Accounting Departments. 

  • Serves in consultative and collaborative roles with the Joint Interest Accounting and Accounts Payable Accounting Departments to ensure all facets of operational accounting are coordinated and functioning effectively.
  • Serves as a key advisor to the CAO, CFO, General Counsel and other company personnel on all aspects of Operational Accounting and reporting matters.
  • Establish and maintain written policies and procedures as well as monitoring for compliance, and recommend and implement improvements required to improve internal control and meet evolving business needs.
  • Responsible for final review and approval of documents, projects, and processes that are generated within the area of responsibility.
  • Reviews and monitors interactions with other departments and with outside parties.
  • Key member of the asset integration team by assisting in the accounting due diligence and integration/dissolution of oil and gas property asset acquisition and divestiture transactions as well as responsible for post-closing accounting settlements.
  • Recruits, directs, coaches, evaluates, corrects and mentors staff to ensure appropriate organizational development, succession planning, and performance management within the Revenue and Production Accounting Departments.
  • Serves as the Audit Compliance Officer to facilitate accurate and complete information gathering, and assist in responses to all federal and state royalty and severance tax compliance reviews and audits.
  • Key accounting team member that interfaces with IT and other departments to update, develop and implement effective operational accounting and reporting systems including the integration of departmental systems (e.g., Marketing/Land/Production/Regions) and sub-systems.

Requirements:

  • Undergraduate degree in Accounting or related field of study required.
  • MBA or graduate degree in Accounting is a plus.
  • CPA certification preferred.
  • 15+ years of progressively responsible experience in all aspects of operational accounting (i.e., revenue, production, joint interests and accounts payable accounting) in the upstream E&P industry.
  • 5+ years related managerial/supervisory experience with demonstrated organizational leadership capabilities while providing advanced technical knowledge of operational accounting practices for a variety of highly complex assignments while successfully working with and advising senior management and various other departments (e.g., Production, Marketing, Land, Legal, AP, Revenue, Corporate Accounting, Region/field personnel) as well as third parties.
  • In-depth knowledge and demonstrated the ability to successfully work with federal and state agencies to comply with applicable rules and respond to royalty and severance tax compliance reviews and audits.

 

E&P Revenue Accountant – dlemaire@cfstaffing.com

Responsibilities:

Record revenue, remit royalties and pay taxes for oil/gas sales associated with properties.

Record associated gas balancing entries and reconcile production versus revenue recorded.

Review and process division of interest changes received from Land Administration and if necessary, reverse and rebook revenue associated with such changes.

Monitor and reconcile accounts receivables. Analyze and reconcile general ledger accounts and prepare accounting entries. Invoice various purchasers for gas sales.

Record Pipeline Imbalances and Cashouts.

Reconcile Intercompany accounts related to assigned properties.

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting desired. A business degree in a related field will be considered.

CPA a plus, 2+ years of oil and gas revenue accounting experience required.

Working knowledge of and ability to apply generally accepted accounting principles.

Proficient in MS Excel.

Ability to gather and communicate data logically, accurately, and concisely.

Position requires sound analytical ability.

Must be able to meet rigorous deadlines and work effectively with others.

Must be able to perform most assignments with minimal supervision.

Position Summary:

  • Accounting for onshore oil and gas revenues for various Midcontinent and Rocky Mountain states.
  • Reconciling various G/L accounts including sales, royalties payable, cash receipts, accounts receivable, tax liability and tax expense accounts.
  • Analyzing monthly trends and variances.

 

Qualifications

  • Accounting degree preferred.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office.
  • Experience with oil and gas accounting systems.  Citation currently uses a recent version of Excalibur (EDGE).
  • Knowledge of oil and gas accounting practices is a plus.
  • Ability to work well in an interactive office environment.
  • Strong proactive analytical skills.
  • Professional work ethic and cooperative attitude.

Essential Job Duties:
Recording Oil & Gas revenue transactions in Energy Upstream (P2ES) Revenue Environment. Processing cash feeds & run tickets, preparation of manual upload spreadsheets, Agreement Setups, and ensure proper severance tax accruals are calculated. Monthly reconciliation of General Ledger Accounts and Accounts Receivable. Perform volume & value trend analysis and provide explanation for exceptions.
Required Qualifications:
• 2+ years experience working in a Revenue Accounting role, preferrably in an Oil & Gas company.
• Bachelors Degree in Accounting or related field (min 21 hours of accounting credit)
• Must demonstrate initiative and interact effectively with others in a team environment
• Must communicate effectively with internal & external clients
• Must be able to manage multiple tasks and meet short deadlines
• Excellent fundamental accounting skills; hands on experience with general ledger reconciliations
• Fluctuations in workloads will require some overtime
• Excellent Excel spreadsheet experience
Additional Desired Qualifications:
• Oil & Gas revenue accounting experience
• Oracle Financial and/or P2ES software application experience
• Oracle Discoverer query tool experience

Our client is going through some major changes and looking for great leadership potential. They are currently hiring a Manager of Revenue Accounting. This person will get to hire their own team of Revenue Accountants. The company is converting to SAP, so that experience along with oil & gas experience is required.  The company is  an independent natural gas and oil company. The position is located in Houston, Texas and the individual in this role will report to the Director of Oil & Gas Accounting.  Some other requirements include a minimum of eight years of experience.
