Primary Responsibilities of the Senior Accountant:

  • Monthly GL Accounting – Perform monthly closing process of general ledger; prepare general journal entries, prepare & manage accruals, prepare and/or review account analysis and reconciliation of accounts, review and analyze the trial balance with flux analysis. Assist with subledgers as needed.
  • Accounts Payable – Coding, review, and routing for approval for vendor invoices in a timely manner.
  • Vendor Database – Responsible for key review/compliance check in adding vendors.
  • Intercompany Process- Assist in the monthly intercompany process.
  • Quarter Financial Consolidation- Preparation & review of quarterly consolidation packages under IFRS for submission to parent company.
    • Tasks cover financial statement preparation, financial disclosures, and the intercompany reconciliation process.
  • Lease Accounting– Managing leases in the software tool, accounting journals and reconciliations.
  • Sales Tax – Monthly sales tax reconciliation, payments, filings.
  • Government Reports- Preparation and review of Government Reports.

Education and Experience for the Senior Accountant:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting required; and CPA preferred.
  • 7+ years’ experience in accounting roles.
  • This is a Houston based role and requires at least 2 days per week to be in the office (subject to change at any time).
  • Experience with IFRS accounting standards and foreign currency.
  • Oracle and Hyperion experience preferred.

Overview of the Consolidations Accounting Manager:

  • Monthly consolidations for all entities within the group, accurately and timely, ensuring results correctly reflect the company’s financial position.
  • Prepare and analyze quarterly and annual financial statements in compliance with IFRS
  • Facilitate the external audit process, serving as the primary contact for reporting with external auditors.
  • Develop monthly management reports, including comprehensive variance analyses, to support strategic decision-making.
  • Maintain integrity and control over the general ledger and other master data used in financial reporting.
  • Ensure the preparation of regulatory reporting for securities commissions and stock exchanges is accurate and timely.
  • Provide insightful financial analysis to senior management, focusing on trends, risks, and opportunities.
  • Maintain and review accounting procedures and processes and make improvements when necessary.
  • Coordinate and prepare internal and external presentations with financial data.
  • Support management in miscellaneous projects and ad-hoc business needs.

Preferred Qualifications of the Consolidations Accounting Manager:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting
  • Preferably C.P.A
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in financial reporting, including 5 years of consolidations.

Primary Responsibilities of the Financial Analyst:

  • Perform detailed reporting duties within the framework of the BL reporting structure – primarily focused on P&L / Capex / Cash Flow activities covering monitoring of actual performance, as well as forecast and budgeting

  • Managing the complexity of various basins accounting specifically some with different ledger currencies, fluctuation on foreign exchange rate

Qualifications for the Financial Analyst:

  • Accounting undergraduate
  • 4+ years’ experience in Accounting / Finance roles
  • Proven experience in projects involving Financial Information Systems and Analysis

Happy New Year! It’s hard to believe that we’re already halfway through the first quarter of 2024. Let’s delve into the latest economic developments and examine the current conditions of both the U.S. and Houston economies, and how they might impact your career.

In the U.S., we’ve seen strong GDP growth, a thriving job market, historically low unemployment rates, and a decrease in inflation. Meanwhile, in the Houston area, economic expansion continues, albeit at a slower rate compared to 2021 and 2022. Nevertheless, the unemployment rate remains at historic lows.

Despite these positive indicators, in my view, the job market isn’t performing as well as the media suggests. While there are numerous job opportunities available, there’s also a scarcity of skilled workers. Additionally, many workers are reluctant to switch jobs due to market uncertainty, shifts from remote to hybrid or fully in-office roles, and stagnant salaries. The local job market isn’t booming, but it remains stable.

990 Accounting Consultant acting as Interim Controller/VP of Finance – 100% Remote

Overview: We are seeking an experienced Accounting Consultant to act as Interim Controller/VP of Finance for an international non-profit organization.
The Accounting Consultant will oversee our financial reporting, compliance, and accounting processes. This role plays a pivotal part in ensuring accurate financial statements, managing audits, and maintaining robust financial systems. The Accounting Consultant role is fully remote.


Responsibilities of the Accounting Consultant:

Financial Reporting and Compliance:

  • Prepare monthly financial statements and budget vs actual variance analysis for HQ departments and consolidated reports.
  • Manage and coordinate annual audits, including 990 filing, and assist external auditors.
  • Assist with local country audits as required.
  • Develop grant reporting templates, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Manage state filings in the US and maintain grant reporting for various donors.

Accounting and Financial Systems:

  • Maintain accounting systems and processes, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
  • Coordinate with the Africa Controller on financial systems and process changes.
  • Implement and maintain internal controls and financial procedures.
  • Review and approve monthly financial closing entries and revenue tracking software.
  • Oversee full cycle of accounts payable/receivable and prepare time sheet allocations.
  • Review monthly balance sheet reconciliations and ensure compliance with budget and donor tracking.
  • Navigate information for audits and tax filings, especially 990 returns.
  • Assist in insurance renewals and provide support for external financial queries.

Qualifications for Accounting Consultant Candidates:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • MBA or CPA is a plus.
  • 5+ progressive years of experience in a non-profit organization (International non-profit experience is a plus).
  • Strong understanding of financial reporting, compliance, and accounting systems.
  • Proficiency in Excel and Financial Edge software.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with diverse teams.
  • Detail-oriented with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
