What the Accounting Manager will do….

  • Preparation of financial reports on a quarterly and annual basis, including Statement of Cash Flows, Equity Rollforward, and other financial reports including explanations of variances between actual results and budgets and prior year comparisons, footnotes and topsides to present to the board of directors.
  • Review all financial reporting prepared by team members; work with the controller and other managers to review board reporting package presented to management and the board of directors.
  • Lead and manage a team of three in the areas of treasury, management accounting and accounts payable.
  • Oversees treasury functions including review of daily cash activity and journal entries, managing the short- and medium-term cash forecasting process to ensure entities have enough liquidity to fund working capital commitments and investing our cash to maximize investment returns.
  • Manages the monthly, quarterly and annual closing process to include account reconciliations, fixed asset schedules, bank account reconciliations and journal entries.
  • Review and approve all accounts payable vouchers to ensure proper coding as well as internal controls are followed on a weekly basis in a multi-company organization with extensive intercompany structure.
  • Preparation of annual budgets with variance explanations comparing budget to prior year and actuals.

WHAT WILL THE FINANCIAL DIRECTOR DO:

The Financial Director will provide key financial management in the areas of reporting, costing, and financial planning and analysis. The position will work closely with the corporate CFO and with the local GM to drive KPIs and will act as a champion for strategic initiatives within the division.

  • Will work closely with those in accounting and otherwise to help understand the financial implications of costing, bid pricing, and other matters of revenue and cost recognition.
  • Provide P&L analysis of results in order to advise the leadership of future opportunities to limit risk.
  • In conjunction with operations, will develop budget and forecast
  • Analysis of Job cost projections
  • Cash management
  • Support strategic initiatives, analyze operations and offer solutions and recommendations for cost-saving or reduction, and systems enhancements.
  • Lead monthly and quarterly financial close and reporting
  • Present findings to the leadership of variance analysis against plan and forecast
  • Present findings of the reviews on indirect cost reports, profitability, cash collection, and month-end accruals.
  • Oversee accounting and evaluate revenues recognized in accordance with percentage completion accounting.
  • Ensure proper internal controls are in place and identify any key risk areas

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR IN A FINANCIAL DIRECTOR:

  • BS in Accounting or Finance
  • Strong understanding of percentage completion accounting, financial reporting, and operating budget/forecast creation
  • Advanced excel skills and analytical skills
  • Proven experience working and communicating with management from all areas of an organization (project managers, sales, to senior management/leadership)
  • SOX/Public company experience a plus
  • CPA a plus
  • Construction industry a MAJOR plus! (someone without it would likely have a steep learning curve)

Responsibilities:

  • Process, code and obtain approval for accounts payable invoices in a multi-company environment
  • Calculate allocations for various invoices in Excel
  • Cut checks and process ACH payments weekly
  • Monitor AP inbox and AP aging
  • Reconcile employee credit card statements
  • Determine 1099 coding and assist with yearly filing
  • Monitor AR aging and create AR invoices

What the Staff Accountant will do:

  • Record weekly, monthly and quarterly transactions in the general ledger related to public securities including dividend income, interest, gain/loss, foreign tax withholding, and management fees
  • Perform monthly close duties included but not limited to:
    • Reconciliations of cash, interest, dividends, gain or loss on sales, fair market value, cost and foreign taxes between custodial statements and the general ledger
    • Perform monthly reconciliations between Addepar and the general ledger
    • Maintain accrued interest schedule for bonds
    • Post-Fair Market Value adjustments to the general ledger
    • Import offline fund transactions and valuations
  • Assist in the preparation of weekly and monthly securities reports for Management Committee and Investment Committee
  • Prepare quarterly Board reports for marketable securities
  • Prepare schedules and provide requests for several external audits including for-profit and non-profit companies
  • Assist in the preparation of budgeting and forecasting schedules for the annual budget
  • Maintain relations with custodians, request trades, and manage accounts
  • Cross-train on accounting, reporting and performance measurement for alternative (private) investments
  • Assist Manager of Investment Accounting with reporting and special requests as needed

What the company needs in a Staff Accountant:
