E-Commerce Controller- 100% Remote

Our client, a rapidly growing company in the E-Commerce space is seeking a Controller.

This is a critical financial leadership role within the organization and will be responsible for overseeing the accounting operations, month end close as well as AP, Payroll, and sales tax. This role is 100% remote and will report to the CFO.

What will the Controller do?

• Be instrumental in the selection and implementation of new ER
• Oversee the month-end close process, accounts payable, payroll, and treasury operations
• Lead a team of driven accountants, help restructure department as needed
• Plan, direct, and coordinate, all accounting operational functions including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, General Ledger, sales tax compliance, and Payroll
• Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures
• Play an integral role in M&A, coordinating due diligence, the valuation and opening balance sheet, and post-combination integration
• Design, implement and maintain process narratives, risk assessments, and internal controls compliant with SOX
• Continuously challenge and improve processes and procedures aimed at increased visibility and communication of results, automation, and shorter yet more accurate close cycles
• Plan, organize and coordinate the completion of annual audits
• Lead strategic initiatives to improve productivity and utilization of ERP, drive efficiencies within the business to help achieve cost goals, and improve working capital performance
• Assist with other special projects as requested by the senior leaders

What we need in a Controller:

The ideal Controller would be a CPA with a minimum of 8 years of accounting experience with a mix of Big4 Audit & (Ecommerce/Retail) Industry experience. The ideal Controller will also be high energy, personable, adaptive & creative *entrepreneurial spirit* & teamwork mentality.

• 8+ years of increasingly responsible accounting experience
• Bachelors degree & CPA
• BIG 4 Accounting background highly preferred
• ERP Implementation experience (Microsoft Dynamix or Netsuite ideally)
• Experience in high-growth E-commerce/Retail industry with experience in Dropshipping ideal. At a minimum, candidates will need to have E-commerce or Retail experience.
• PE or VC backed company experience a plus!
• In-depth knowledge and practical understanding of the working of the financial statements with ability to analyze and improve upon inadequacies
• Experience in a high transaction volume environment
• Thorough knowledge & experience with gaap
