Accounting Manager / Controller – East Houston –

Our Client is an established, privately-owned and family-oriented company located in the Channelview area.

  • GENERAL LEDGER (GL)/MONTHLY CLOSE – Prepare or review month-end journal entries and close GL. Perform and supervise monthly balancing of books, account reconciliations, and generation of routine monthly financial statements.
  • REPORTING – In addition to routine monthly financial statements, this position will be integral to the support of operations and executives, including CEO, by providing reporting and comprehensive financial analysis of large maritime projects.  Other duties to also include providing Management basic monthly financial statements, providing the external local Houston CPA Firm, banks, regulatory auditors, and tax preparers with reconciled financial statements.
  • FORECASTING, PLANNING AND ANALYSIS - Assisting the VP of Finance and executive team with strategic planning; directing budget preparation, financial analysis of large long-term contracts, and analyzing actual results compared to budget.
Other Accounting duties include but are not limited to:
  • Help with the annual inventory count for external auditors.
  • Be back-up for Accounts Receivable, AP Manager, or Payroll Manager when individuals are on vacation
  • Process and File Monthly Sales Tax Report
  • Manage, negotiate and pay property taxes
  • Assisting VP of Finance with Insurance Coverage
  • Support performance of financial statement, 401k, sales tax, property tax, and other regulatory audits.

  • GL monthly close experience
  • US GAAP Financial Statement preparation experience
  • Strong Excel skills
  • A knowledge of cost accounting not necessary but a plus
  • Knowledge of Sage/Timberline not necessary but a plus
