Summary of the Role:

• Oversees a team of 8 and day to day activities of business Office.
• Responsible for patient billing and collections, third-party payer relations, filing insurance claims, posting-daily deposits along with daily and monthly close of business, maintains patient accounting system.
• Assists in department budget prep, generates reports, and review departmental financial statements.
• Manages business office staff and their day-to-day performance
• Requires at least five years of medical billing experience, with at least 3 years supervisory experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in business or a related area is preferred.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Practice Management software and electronic billing is essential (currently on Greenway Intergy Practice Management and Practice Analytics).
• Medical Business Office experience required.

Responsibilities
• Designing, executing, and ensuring policies and procedures are adhered to, as well as fine tuning effective billing/business office processes for improvement.
• Responsible for managing the revenue cycle, including 8+ persons and acts as the expert and go-to person in the department for all processes relating to coding, billing and collections . It also involves providing effective supervision, including training, work allocation, and problem resolution to business office personnel.
• Planning and directing workload coding, patient insurance documentation, data processing, filing of insurance claims and managing rejections, and billing and collection to achieve efficient account collection and accurate billing.
• Collaborates with leadership on preparing and analyzing insurance contracts, weekly and monthly financial reports, and accounts receivable reports and to ensure accurate collection and compilation of statistical reports.
• Coordinating and directing the activities of the business office operations to follow overall departmental protocol; and that State, Federal, and payer requirements, guidelines, and regulations are complied with.
• Evaluating the performance of employees and making recommendations for appropriate actions to be taken; as well as motivating personnel to achieving peak performance and productivity.
• Maintains Managed Care contract files, including credentialing of new physicians and re-credentialling along with maintaining and updating prices in billing system.

Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration preferred
• Requires at least five years of medical billing experience, with at least 3 years supervisory experience.
Strong experience of medical insurance/healthcare billing and collections work in a health system or medical practice
• Deep knowledge and understanding of revenue cycle, collections and payment posting, medical billing, Medicare and Medicaid, and third party payers
• Strong understanding and working knowledge of CPT and ICD10 codes, HCFA 1500, HIPAA, medical terminology, etc.
