Do you think you’re ready for a new job or a career change? Looking for a new job takes a lot of time, and it’s very hard to do when you have a full-time job. Looking for a job also runs the risk of your current boss finding out that you’re searching. And if you’re not careful, your network may communicate through the grapevine all the way to your employer. It’s important to keep your job search confidential to avoid an awkward confrontation with your boss.
Don’t announce that you’re searching for a new job. If you want to secretly let recruiters know that you’re open to new job opportunities, use LinkedIn’s new service called “Open Candidates” that allows recruiters to see you are open to job opportunities privately. The Open Candidates status will be hidden by LinkedIn from your current employer or anyone affiliated with your company.
Learn about the company. If you want to know more about a company, LinkedIn has made it easier for you to research through their newly released “Career Pages” that allows you to focus on company overview, relevant jobs and corporate culture. As more companies become acquainted with the feature, you’ll see more career pages available. This will save you more time in researching while giving you a panoramic view of companies.
Indicate your job interests. Using Open Candidates features allows you to specify the job titles and industries you’re interested in. It also includes the locations you are willing to transfer to. Simply go to LinkedIn Jobs in your home page and select Preferences to toggle the settings.
Get to know the team. You can also see job recommendations fitting your profile under Career Pages. From there, you’ll see a section called “Meet the Team” in which you can find more information about people with similar roles within the companies listed.
Take advantage of all the resources available when you’re looking for a new job. Doing this will save you time and help you identify relevant people easily so you can get the inside scoop on job openings.
