Responsibilities:
- Oversight of all accounting operations for the Venezuelan company including day-to-day accounting/office duties, budgeting and cash flow management/forecast.
- Ensure timely and accurate transaction processing
- Maintain, analyze and summarize general ledger accounts
- Prepare and submit the monthly financial translation
- Ensure compliance with local statutory audit and financial reporting requirements
- Month end closing activities including journal entries, reconciliation of accounts, analysis, verification and preparation of supporting schedules
- Work with the project manager to track the actual and forecasted cost of the project
- Update costing schedule to ensure proper cost of the project
- Insures compliance with POC Accounting Standards and Insures compliance with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act
- Ability to access information from a database environment
- Direct the implementation of key cost accounting methods and activities
- Support internal/external audits and special projects
- Escalates issues to management
- Oversees the establishment and adherence to Company’s policies and processes
- Requires knowledge of general business management principles
- Advanced knowledge of accounting methods, procedures and principles
- Ability to travel internationally up to 25% travel
- Assistance with the preparation of the Venezuelan tax provision for US GAAP purposes
Skills:
- Required to be bilingual with English and Spanish
- Ability to solve complex problems and use sound judgment and decision making
- Solid attention to detail to ensure completeness and accuracy of information
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
- CPA preferred
- Public accounting experience preferred
- 6+ years of experience in the field or in a related area
- Understanding of POC accounting
