Payroll Coordinator – North of The Woodlands – dcd@fittsroberts.com

GENERAL PURPOSE

Manage the daily operations of the payroll. Ensure accuracy and timely completion of the payroll records. Create audit reports to verify the accuracy of the payroll run. Maintain, direct and calculate the entry of data in to the Great Plains System.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage and guarantee bi-weekly disbursement of payroll, including garnishments, benefits and taxes to 125 employees consistent with federal and state wage and hour laws
  • Ensure the processing of new hires, temporary workers, transfers, promotions and
    terminations is accurate and timely
  • Critically review and analyze current payroll, benefits and tax procedures in order to recommend and implement changes leading to best-practice operations
  • Audit W-4s, payroll balance sheets, YTD earnings, etc.
  • Communicate actively with Operations, HR and Billing to review cross-departmental impacts and reconcile data sharing
  • Partner with HR and benefits in aligning and implementing a more sophisticated payroll and benefits system
  • Ensure systems are set-up and updated to reflect our current employee base, including wages, benefits, vacation time in line with Policies and Procedures
  • Manage regular preparation of relevant management reports, including weekly, monthly, quarterly and year-end reports (gross payroll, hours worked, vacation, tax deductions, benefit deductions, etc.)

 

REQUIRMENTS

  • 3-5 years experience processing payroll
  • Extensive working knowledge of Great Plains HR/Payroll System
  • 2-3 years job costing experience
  • Proficient in Time Matrix – timekeeping system
  • Must be proficient Great Plains report writing
  • Proficient at MS Office Suite
  • Working experience of payroll tax at the federal level
  • Must be a team player
  • Must be highly organized
  • Prior system conversion experience, a plus

SPECIFIC SKILLS /QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

  • Should have good oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to effectively manage time and meet set targets and deadlines

 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelors degree or a combination of education and experience
  • Must have 3 – 5 years Great Plains HR/Payroll processing experience
