This position is located in Boston, MA.

Creative Financial Staffing has been retained by a prestigious university that is seeking a Controller/Chief Accounting Officer to join their team. Due to both the size (over $1.5B in expenditures/year) and the complex structure of the university it is essential for this person to be a strategic thinker and have significant experience within a higher education environment. The ideal candidate will also have experience working in a highly matrixed organization.

Responsibilities Include but are not limited to:

• Ensure the integrity of all financial and operational objectives through direct oversight of internal and external reporting, FP&A and compliance.　

 

• Advise members of executive management on key technical accounting issues. Present impact, make recommendations for solutions and implement final solution.　

 

• Act as the lead strategic advisor with regards to process improvement initiatives (i.e. software upgrade/implementation)　

 

• Act as a key liaison with departments throughout University to promote strong sense of financial collaboration.　

 

Qualifications Include but are not limited to

• Bachelors degree and CPA required; Masters degree a plus　

 

• 10+ years of solid accounting/finance experience working within a Higher Ed/Large Healthcare/ or Research environment (i.e. working with endowments, pledges, ect)　

 

• Strong information systems background (i.e. designing, implementing and/or enhancing accounting systems)　

 

Demonstrated leadership and management abilities in large highly matrixed organizations.
