The Assistant Controller located in the Houston, Texas office, directs the accounting staff and assists the Controller in all phases of accounting; manages day-to-day Accounting Department activities and responsibilities; supervises/prepares month-end journal entries and handles monthly, quarterly and annual closing procedures; produces and/or assists the Controller with production of financial statements in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards.

Other Responsiblities:
- Supervise and train accounting staff to assure quality of work.
- Prioritize, research and resolve extraordinary accounting issues.
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts and review turnover accounts for reasonableness.
- Review project for proper revenue recognition.
- Supervise/prepare intercompany invoices, record intercompany vouchers, and reconcile to clearing files.
- Initiate and implement process improvements, both for Accounting Department and Company.
- Supervise maintenance of State/Federal reporting, including Secretary of State required filings.
- Handle international filings as required.
- Prepare and distribute weekly and monthly management reports.
- Supervise/review, enter, and reconcile capital assets and depreciation.
- Prepare weekly cash flow projections.
- Assist other departments and managers with accounting/business related issues.
- Special projects as directed by Controller.

- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.
- 7-10 years progressive accounting experience required (A/E firm preferred).
- Project accounting experience preferred.
- Ability to complete recurring tasks with little instruction or supervision.
- Excellent Microsoft Excel skills.
- Highly organized and able to meet deadlines.
- Willingness to work overtime during close and at other times with little notice.
- Ability to learn new software quickly.
- Strong communication skills (both verbal and written), technology and analytical skills.
- Ability to interface with personnel at a variety of levels.
- Strong work ethic.
